Hamlet v.
Hamlet,
583 So. 2d
654 (Fla. 1991).
The Fifth
District Court of Appeal in Hamlet v. Hamlet, 552 So. 2d 210
(Fla. 5th DCA 1989) reversed a monthly award of permanent
alimony because the wife had received substantial assets in equitable
distribution.
Ms.
Lippincott represented the wife before the Florida Supreme Court. The
Supreme Court reversed the Fifth District and reinstated the alimony
award finding that the trial court had the power to award permanent
alimony because there was a significant disparity in the parties’
earning abilities due to the wife’s lengthy absence from the work force.
