v. Dempsey,
723 So. 2d
384 (Fla. 5th DCA 1998).
A minor
committed suicide by hanging several hours after being served alcohol at
a sports bar. Her parents brought suit against the bar in Orange County
Circuit Court. The bar sought summary judgment against the bar and it
was denied. The bar appealed after final judgment.
Ms.
Lippincott represented the parents in this appeal. The appellate court
upheld the trial court’s denial of the bar’s motion for summary
judgment. The court ruled that a jury could reasonably find that some
self-inflicted injury was foreseeable as a result of the minor’s
intoxication. The judgment in favor of the parents was affirmed.
